Required Work Hours

Beginners – Mandatory 10 hours and the mandatory event of Tomah Fair & one other volunteer event.  (The events must be at least a four hour shift).

Mites thru Bantams – 20 hours and one mandatory event of either Cranfest, Truck and Tractor Pull, Tomah Fair, 3 on 3, or National Night Out & one other volunteer event.  (The events must be at least a four hour shift).

How to get your mandatory hours:

  • Rink Clean-up (Any time this can be counted as hours)

  • Work a tournament (i.e. Blue Devils, State, 3 on 3, positions are penalty box, score keeping, time clock, Zamboni (cannot be your teams tournament))

  • Rink set-up and Rink-tear down

  • Work in Concession stand, not on your scheduled team time

  • Run the Zamboni (counts as 15 minutes towards your hours)

  • Help with Rink Maintenance (Currently every Wednesday night)

  • Help with yearly registration sign-ups

Notes:  Hours will now be calculated from Rink set-up to Rink tear down.  (No exceptions)  They are usually no less than 30 minute increments.  Exception is Zamboni driver.

Also, families may substitute any event as long as their event is covered by another family and they complete another event.  Also, 20 hours per family, not per skater.

The final hour’s sheet will be collected at the end of rink-tear down at the end of the hockey season and will be utilized at the registration table for the upcoming year’s dues.   It is each families responsibility to turn in hours sheets (No sheets, No hours, No Exceptions) Again, it is the responsibility of the family to ensure their hour’s are up to date. (The hours will also be located on the TYH Website).

Thanks for everyone’s assistance and understanding, this is what Tomah Youth Hockey is all about!  Volunteering our time so our kids have a chance to play a great Sport at a reasonable price!

Rink Clean-Up Requirements

The Tomah Youth Hockey Association is responsible for cleaning of the Hockey area of the Building from September 1 to March 31.  This includes the locker rooms, restrooms by the locker rooms, warming area, concession stand, hallways in this area and the arena.  The city is responsible for clean up in the entryway and restrooms in that area.  Each level is assigned a cleanup day and the families are expected to help get the clean up done.  Hours spent on rink clean up do count towards your families required 20 hours per family participation requirement.  The assignment of workers is at the hands of the team reps for each team.  Lack of cooperation in the clean up of the area may result in loss of practice time for the level that failed to do their part.  If everyone chips in and helps the job is not that big.  Cleaning supplies are in the old coaches room off the warming room.  Water for mopping can be found in the new Zamboni room.

Thank you for your cooperation.  TYH Board of Directors
